c u r r e n t p l o t
Ages ago, there was one dominant herd of wild horses on the Cimarron plains. They were at peace with the Natives and the other animals...everything was as it should be.
But then, a rebellious group of horses broke off and formed the Darksun Herd. There were quarrels at first. Some innocent blood was shed. But it was soon resolved. The two lead stallions swore that they would never truly have peace among, but these words were kept to themselves and many things that should never have been forgotten were lost.
The current leaders of both herds, Spirit and Alasdi, seem to be almost mirror images of those two stallions. And while the herds have enjoyed peace for many years, Alasdi is far too ambitious for his own good. He wants to conquer the Cimarron Herd, claiming the land for himself. He almost had a chance; Spirit was captured by two-legs about a year ago. But the other herd members protected their lands with a fiery passion, and the Indians eventually let Spirit go. Now, Alasdi waits for his revenge, training his herd and waiting for the time of the inevitible battle to come...
The Setting
1800's-ish. Around the time of the Battle of Little Bighorn. (*cough* The "Colonel" is meant to remind of Custer *cough*). In the western part of the USA. Think Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas, Colorado, Arizona...think Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Other Animals
Any animals native to this region. White settlers haven't driven everything into the mountains yet, so grizzly bears, elk, deer, buffalo, cougars, wolves, coyotes, and pronghorn antelope still roam the Great Planes in large numbers.
How we are different then other equine RPGS
We do not have the whole Light, Dark, and Neutral thing going on. Herds here are defined by the horses, not the other way around.
We do not allow Friesans, Gypsy Vanners, or any draft horses. We shouldn't even have to worry about breeds. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, peoples. We have mustangs, if you must know. Maybe a quarter horse or two in the Fort. You don't need to worry about breeds that much here.
"M'ladies, and fine gents, w'do not speak in such eloquent language. Thou must have realized th' this is not the Middle Ages. It is perfectly acceptable t'have an accent like this, if y'want your character t'be th'way, but please don't expect ev'ryone t'respon' in like manner."
We don't encourage leg muscles and male deer running around on architectural structure, with ribbons blowing in the wind. (Femoras and stags running around on pillars, if you didn't get it. Wolfspeak=bad.)
We don't force you to count words. This is supposed to be a fun RPG, not an English test.
