A brown figure sped through the canyons, heading towards a human camp. Her name was Alu. A she-wolf, with an odd life. She lived with humans. They fed her, gave her a home, and in return, she protected them from any threats. And now she was proving her worth.
Hunters. They shot and killed wolves right on the spot. Lucky for Alu, there was a group of them chasing her right now. If they go to the camp, they would most likely kill Alu's family. She wasn't about to let that happen.
Skilfully, she let them through a maze of boulders, dodging all of the gun fire they were shooting at her. Once false move, and she would be shot. Just like so many other wolves. Finally she arrived at her destination.
A large cliff, overlooking the lower parts of the canyon. You couldn't see it coming, until you were right at the edge, That was her plan. Make them fall off.
When she was less then a foot away from the cliff, she quickly sped the the right.
The humans weren't so lucky. They didn't have enough time to turn, and fell right off.
"That'll teach ya!" Alu said, proud of her victory. Now to get back to camp.

The desert's scorching heat did it's toll on both the young and old travelers that dared to pass through it. One such sole was Shikon. It had been quite a few miles since the last city, and thirst was drawing out his weakness. A quick sniff to the air alerted him tosomething...fresh water. It was close.
He followed his nose until he was overlooking an indian camp. Those foolish humans...how he disliked humans....

Alu soon came to a large ledge, overlooking her camp. Her home. She had no idea Shikon was close. To inform her family that she had returned, she let out a long, joyful howl, that echoed all around. Alu then jumped down from the ledge, and raced towards the camp. Almost everyone greeted her with welcoming words, and praise of chasing off the hunters. Everything was so peaceful in camp...

Shikon was already in the village when his ear twitched from a howl. The indians just saw him as a wolf, and so made no effort to stop him. After all, to indians, wolves were sacred beasts. He padded through the village, quickly and quietly, before finding a place to drink. As he lapped up some water from a dish, the indians roared with praise. Apparently something good happened. Shikon didn't really care. He was just stealing a drink, then bolting.

A black figure moved quickly between the maze of boulders, just a blur of black to the naked eye. When the figure finally stopped when it had reached the cliffs edge, it was clear to everyone what it was. A wolf. Blacky was his name, and he had always had a loving family, until the incident one year ago, where his family had been killed by hunters. He had been hidden under a pille of leaves, watching in horror as his family was killed and dragged away. he couldn't do anything. They had guns, he had teeth. Who would win? Hunters of course. She looked down from the cliff, spotting a small bery bush growing out of the cliff, maybe 30 feet below. Why did food always have to be so hard to reach. He took a very deep breath, before jumping off the cliff, wind catching in his furry ears. It may have seemed like he was about to die, but he had climbed thousands of cliffs for food. He grabbed onto a rock justting out from the cliff, and grabbed the stick, which was covered in red berries, and shoves the side into his mouth, holding it before climbing back up.
Blacky sat down under the shade of a boulder, starting to enjoy his catch of the day. That was the life of Blacky the wolf. he was clueless to the fact there was a small village only right down the cliff, and that there were other wolves around. But he didn't hear the howl, or the villagers praise one of the wolves. Who cared about tribes when you were starving, and you finally got some food?

Alu picked up a strange scent. She couldn't tell if it was a dog, or some other animal. Letting her nose do the work for her, she began to follow the scent, until she came upon Shikon. At first, she thought he was some stray dog, stealing water from her tribe. But he was too big to be any dog. He was a stranger, but his scent was slightly familiar. Like he was somehow related to her not through blood, but through some other bond. Either way, she raised her hackles, and growled at the intruder, hoping to get some answers.

Shikon continued to lap up the water, acting as if the puny dog behind him wasn't even there. Why should he waste his time on others, when he had a long journey ahead of him? Of course, something smelt odd about this 'dog' but he could investigate later.

When Shikon ignored her, Alu just got more pissed off. "HEY! Stop drinking our water mutt!" she snarled, with her tail raised. Some of the village people had noticed the small conflict, and laughed lightly. They thought it was odd how a wolf could threaten her own kind that way.

Shikon continued to drink. When he finally quenched his thrist, he just padded onward. COMPLETELY IGNORING HER!! He just wasn't in the mood for others right now...his hunger was more important. He sniffed the air, then began to pad towards a deliteful smell.

Alu quickly jumped in front of Shikon, blocking his path. "God your either brain dead, or have trouble hearing!" she said, annoyed by his actions. Something about his appearance seemed familiar. It was unlike any dog she had seen. Could he be... No! There was no way someone this rude could be a wolf. And if he was, he didn't act the part.

Blacky finished off the food, before climbing down the winding path to where the tribe was. it started to rain lightly, but he walked behind the huts, in the shade so the rain wouldn't get him.

Shikon contued right on past the female. He turned a corner, and then was gone!! Maned wolves had some of the longest legs out of any wolf, so naturally they were fast. He stopped and leapt up at a deer carcas hanging from a rope. He tore into it wolfishly, and wasn't stopped by the indians. Afterall, if he was truely a wolf, he was a scared beast!

Alu quickly grabbed the dear from Shikon, and dragged it away. Sure the indians wouldn't dare take it from a sacred animal, but that didn't mean she couldn't. She quickly stashed the deer in one the huts, and then went back over to Shikon. "Don't take what isn't yours!" she said, obviously protective of her people's food. The world was ending after all. There wasn't much food left, let alone any scraps for a mutt like him to take when he felt like it.

Shikon had ripped enough of the deer off to settle him as Alu stole it away. He finished up what he had taken and then FINALLY looked at the other wolf. "Nothin has an owner at world's end" He said simply before turning around and heading out. His stomach was settled, and his strength renewed.

"Man you have issues!" she said, walking away herself. Now that his scent was gone, she thought that she was picking up another one. Familiar, but different from Shikon's. Another dog maybe? It didn't really smell like a dog though. Alu had no idea Blacky had entered the camp. She was clueless. His scent was mixed with Shikon's and both of their scents were mixing with all the other dogs in camp. Man, all of this mixing was making it too confusing to even track down a squirrel!
