Shikon didn't respond. He had never thought of having a traveling buddy....did he really want one? Searching for a thing that no other wolves believed existed was normally a big turn off. "You've been asking many questions. Now I've got one for you. Have you ever heard of the lunar flower?" He asked, his eyes gazing into hers deeply, for the first time. He was scanning for truth. ((The Lunar Flower was a rare flower, that has believed to have gone extinct))

Satika knew she'd heard the phrase before. Lunar flower... lunar flower... she frowned. "It's familiar... I just don't know what it is, exactly. I think someone told me about it when I was very young," she said slowly. "It's at the tip of my tongue. I'm afraid I don't know what it looks like, though. What does it smell like?" she asked, looking at the spot Shikon had been sniffing.

Shikon looked away, towards the rising moon. "It has an undescribeable scent....one you could only trace of you've smelt it before" He told her. Of course, the scent was so faint, and he had trained himself to seek it out which was why he could even pick it up. "It is a bright white flower that only blooms during the full moon." He added. "It's a symbol...of Paradise" He finished as he looked at her. This was the part where he was laughed away, or scoffed at, or annoyed to death....

Satika's mouth fell open. "You mean - you mean there really is a Paradise?" she whispered. "Mama always said," she muttered, more to herself than Shikon, "Mama always said it was a children's tale, meant to give false hope in times of despair and loss." she walked up to Shikon and looked him squarely in the eye. "If this flower can get you to Paradise, I want to come with you. I know I can help you." She had just began to realize how much bigger he was than her. She hated to admit it, but she was a little afraid of him. A bit more quiet, she asked, "By the way, I'm Satika... what's your name?"

Shikon looked at the new wolf long and hard. Was she just mocking him or were her intentions true. He turned away and began walking. He didn't look back, but once he was a good distance ahead, he stopped. "...My name is Shikon" He finally said, as he waited. He had decided to trust this wolf...at least for now.

"OK... Shikon," said Satika, bounding after him in her excitement. She always got really hyper when she thought she'd made a friend, or in this case at least not an enemy. "What do we have to do now? And can this flower tell us where Paradise is, or what does it do?" As usual, she was full of questions. "Oh yeah... can you show me where the scent is? Maybe... just maybe... I have smelled it before, you know?" She was bursting to say more, but she kept herself in check. This wolf didn't look like it took a lot to annoy him. Quite the opposite, actually.

Shioon'sear drooped slightly. It was gonna be a loooooooooong journey. "Look kid, I'm gonna follow this scent, find the flower, and it'll show me to paradise. You'd have to be around the scent for years to pick it up." He answered in a slightly annoyed tone. "Are you finished with your questions?" He asked with a soft sigh.

The smile quickly vanished off her face. "Oh..." Satika was really disappointed. She had thought she could help. But once again, she was the useless little pup who seemed a lot less mature and younger than she actually was. She sighed, too, and sat down on the ground. She closed her eyes. To someone else, it would seem like she was sleeping. What she was really doing was trying to calm herself down. She was very angry at herself that she had acted like a foolish puppy in front of this obviously tougher wolf. "Yes," she said to Shikon, eyes still closed, "I'm done with my questions... except one. Am I allowed to come with you?" She opened her eyes and looked into his.

Shikon stared right back, before breaking the stare and looking off at the moon. It was only half full, and yet still filled him with warmth. "I cannot control what you choose to do" He said. He then shook out his fur and began to walk away. He did smile at her though, after only a few steps.

Satika returned the grin and dashed after him, catching up quickly. She walked beside him, stopping to smell something every so often. "This guy is kind of mysterious sometimes," she thought, "but he's all right... yes, I think I like this wolf."

Shikon continued to walk farther and farther from the indian camp. Those indians wouldn't think of wolves as such great blessings any more after his visit. The place was pretty much destroyed, but he was a wolf on a mission.
As the night went on, he only stopped once to get a drink of water. He followed his nose until the moon was low in the sky. Finally, he stopped and rested under a large slanted rock. He laid down and watched the brilliant moon, as it soon began to become outshined by the vibrant rays of the sun.

Satika, panting, followed Shikon to the rock. He was a whole minute ahead of her by the time they had stopped. She lay beside Shikon (not too close though) and passed out in 30 seconds. She was awakened by the light of the sun, much too soon for that long night of walking. She groaned as she dragged herself off the ground. How did this guy go so far? She stretched and prepared to start walking once again.

Shikon hadn't panted once during this entire journey. He was prepared to move once again, before he shot a glance at his latest traveling companion. He sigh before walking close to the rock and digging away some ground. In moments, he had made a nice little hole. "Sleep. The hole will keep you cool in this heat" He told her. It was too obvious she was fatigued....if she female didn't take a break, she'd run the risk of dieing from exhaustion.

Satika gave Shikon a feeble little smile, then curled up in the hole. "Thanks... I don't know why I'm so tired. I mean, I followed the humans for a long time. I guess they don't move very fast," she said softly. "Maybe I'm out of shape!" she joked, but she knew that was probably the reason. A bit discouraged, she fell into a deep, fitful sleep, only dreaming of a mysterious wolf that she was sure she'd never seen before.

As Satika slept, Shikon burned off some energy. Yeah, even after all that travel, he was still ready to go. He scouted the area, spied on passerbys, and found some food before he finally returned to the rock. He dropped a piece of cooked deer meat infront of Satika's sleeping space. Shame it was cooked..... the sweet taste of a fresh kill was drained from it, but food was food.
