For a second, Ai had no idea what had just happened. One second, the pup was climbing down from the tree, and the next, she was plunging into her fur. It went by so fast, that Ai couldn't really put all of the pieces together until a few moments later. At first, she had no idea what to do. She had never had pups before, so how was she going to know how to comfort her? What should she do? That's when her instincts finally kicked it into high gear, and started working.
The black female nuzzled the pup for a minute, and then she hugged her, almost crying herself. This is what she wished she could of done when she was a pup, right after she had killed her father. Just run and bury her face in another's fur. But she never could. She had always been alone after that.
She flinched slightly as she felt a sob coming on, and quickly shut her eyes tight, hoping the tears wouldn't come. The last thing she needed was to cry in front of two strangers she had never met before.

Sorrou had been watching this scene play out from around a corner. She walked out into the open and glared at the strangers, daring them to challenge her. Inching closer, she realized that the little one was crying. She was curious... what had there been to cry about? Sorrou had hardened her heart years ago, never shedding a single tear for so long. And here was this pup, tears running down her face for no apparent reason. Apparent to Sorrou, at least. "Who are you?" she demanded as if she owned the place, and tapped a front paw while she waited for a response.

Daryl whipped around in an instant, gun drawn at the newcomer. He sighed and put it back into his pocket as he realized that she was just like them. Feeling slightly outnumbered as the only human there, he disappeared, and the black wolf strode up to Sorrou. Coming to a stop just in front of her, he came down into a sitting position and spoke defiantly,
"What business is it of yours?"

Ai opened her eyes when she heard a new voice. Her ears twitched slightly as she turned her head slightly to get a better look at her. It was another wolf, just like them. No big threat in her eyes. But for some reason, she felt slightly protective of Amata. And the weird part was she didn't know why. Maybe it was her instincts? Maybe she was going crazy? Or maybe she hit her head when fighting the dogs? Who knows... All Ai knew was that she wasn't going to let this new wolf lay a paw on Amata or say anything cruel. That was the last thing they needed right then...

Amata's ears had fallen beside her head. In this dog eat dog ...wolf eat wolf really...world, she learned to keep her nose low and avoid others. Yet here she was pressing close to a stranger. She looked over at the new wolf, but quickly turned her face up to Ai. She stared into the wolf's eyes, fully takeing them in for the first time. They were.....beautiful

Sorrou looked back at Daryl, amused. She took in the other two and sighed. "Fine. What are your names? Is that better?" Still looking at Amata and Ai, she asked, "You two related or something?"

Ai looked over at the stranger again when she asked them their names. "Ai." she said simply. "And if I'm related or not to this pup is none of your concern." she said with a slight growl in her tone. She was still highly protective of Amata, and was going to make sure this new wolf didn't lay a paw on her. Or caused any trouble. She caught a shot of the pup looking at her eyes, and almost flinched, thinking she was going to get more scared, but for some reason, the pup looked more amazed than scared. Odd... Usually wolves would run away right about now. That just made her even more protective.

Sorrou was beginning to feel a little apprehensive, and that didn't happen very often. But then again, usually she didn't have any contact with other wolves at all. "I'm just trying to be polite. I'm sorry. I know I'm not very good at it." Sorrou was startled by what she had just said. Was that an apology? She started to back away from the others, ready to dash around the corner she was hiding behind before.

Ai sighed as she saw the new wolf's eyes full of fear. "It's fine... I'm just a little... jumpy..." she said. "I just killed a few dogs, and I guess my senses are a little whack." she added, trying to convince herself that that was the real cause of her actions. She was acting strange ever since she had killed those dogs. First she was caring, then protective, and now she was being kind to a stranger? She began to wonder if she really had hit her head or something...

Sorrou was unhappy with the way things were going. She had presented herself as a scared, wimpy dog, the opposite of what she was trying to be. "Well, anyways," she said ruefully, "I'm Sorrou. And I saw you kill those dogs." she smiled. "I was watching the whole thing. I wanted to jump in, but I was afraid you would think I was one of them," she said, jerking her head at the mangled bodies.

The black wolf just sat there, listening to everything. He sat so still against the blackness that apart from his bright amber eyes, he was almost invisible. It seemed that Sorrou wasn't as high and mighty as she had acted at first. He dropped the aggression act as he spoke again now, but his voice did not portray that, carrying the dark, gravelly tone it always did when he was in wolf form.
"I'm Daryl. Sorry for the aggression, same reason as Ai really. Being shot at doesn't do you many favours."

Amata said nothing as she leaned close to Ai. She looked at the new wolf with her vibrantly pruple eyes. Yes, strange color, but at least they were only one color. She stayed nestled into Ai's fur as she listened to the older wolves speak.

Daryl spoke again. "So, what brings you to these parts?" Then muttered to himself. "As if it isn't obvious, the one reason everyone turns up here for. Paradise. Why are they so driven to find something which is nothing more than a fairy tale told to make young pups forget how bleak life is."

Ai still held Amata, figuring all she needed was some comfort. "What's your name pup?" she whispered, not wanting to intrude on Daryl and the stranger's conversation. She had a strange feeling that things were about to get different in her life starting now.

"Amata" She whispered so only Ai could here. She seemed to be brightening up a bit. She stared into Ai's eyes. "Your eyes are pretty" She said, looking at the strange coloring.
