"Yes... well, she may have been gone when you returned, but she should be back their now." He hung his head low, and sighed, as he considered the question, then gave a simple answer. "Follow. Together." He nuzzled her neck once more, still extremely pleased to see her, then turned to the direction of the cliffs, where the moon glinted ever so slightly off the rugged edge of the rock.

Sorrou felt bad, but that was the answer she wanted. She didn't even believe in Paradise, but this was a really encouraging sign. Even now, some doubt was beginning to form in her mind.... could it be true?

Daryl could tell what she was thinking, somehow. "Let go of your doubt. It is true."

"You already know I don't really believe in Paradise, Daryl.... it seemed you didn't yourself, last time we spoke of it," said Sorrou carefully.

"No, I don't believe in Paradise. But I believe in friendship. Whatever that howl was, and I know, it can't be Paradise. But it's something. Something we should discover together."

Sorrou gave him a little half-smile and nodded. "All right, let's go. Tell me all that's happened to you since I saw you last!"

"Well, after the dog fight pits I headed out into town, met another wolf, similar background to us. Another few run-ins with the humans, and we got split up. She ran with the other two wolves we met, while I went down to hold the hunters off. Took out two of them, then before I could meet up with the others I just...left. Don't know why, I just skipped town, came out here. I'd had enough of being hunted I suppose. And then I met you again."

Sorrou was amazed. She had hardly done anything in that time. "Well... I didn't do much... I just looked around, really..."

"Beats nearly dying..." He began to count them off in his head, "four times?"

"Yea... I guess it would... so how long do you think this journey will take? And I don't know this area at all, what can we eat here?"

"Me neither, but I'd say the cliffs are only a few hours away, and judging by the tracks I saw further back, there's a herd of deer nearby."

Sorrou nodded. "Shall we set off?" she asked.

"Sure." Said the black wolf, turning and setting off at a lope without another word.

Sorrou followed, and didn't say anything either. This suited her just fine.

"So, how are the others? Kosei, Ai, did they make it out of the pits all right? The last thing I remember was Kosei going in at midnight to free you, and then I had to leave."
