Satika had to slow down, she was going to pass out. The robotic bug advanced on her, her eyes widening in awe and fear. "What are you?!" she cried, as the wind half-buried her in sand. "What do you want?" She gulped as it came ever closer, opening and closing its pincers ominously. All of the sudden, she spotted Shikon. The sight of him gave her a burst of energy, and she took off towards him.

Shikon blinked and rubbed his eyes with a sandy paw. He looked up to see way off in the distance the form of a wolf racing towards him. Satika? He stood up and thrusted his head towards the sky, letting off a howl. The creature dove back into the sand, disappearing from view. The wind hid the sound of the grumbling underground, but the vibrations even reached Shikon....it was digging.

Satika almost ran straight into Shikon, veering off course just in time to stop. "The scent, the scent, you've lost the scent. Right? It's my fault, I know..." she jerked her head to the ground as a tremor shook her legs. "What...?" She cried out when she realized that the thing was beneath them.

Shikon had no time to answer as he grabbed the scruff of Satika's neck and threw her out of the way. The metalic creature burst out from under them, snatching up Shikon in it's metal claws. He didn't yelp though...he growled in anger before struggling out of it's loose grasp. He had to bite at the things wires, and he cut a bit cut up in the process, but between cuts and dieing, he'd take cuts.

Satika screamed, but lunged ferociously at the leg of the claw that held Shikon, seized it, and tuged with all her might. Nothing happened except she made a few teeth marks in the metal. It swatted her away with its other leg, easily sending her flying. She landed on her side and groaned. She was too tired for this. Satika rose up again and tried another attack, this time dodging its claws and sinking her teeth in between its eyes.

Shikon shook his head. This metal monster must be man made. He growled as he lept up, past Satika, and pounded on the machine's head with all his might. His jaws continued to put more and more pressure onto the machine until it began to crack. Thanks to Satika's hole, the crack had somewhere to travel, and soon the head of the metallic bug was crushed to pieces.

"Um... wow," Satika was almost speechless. She shot a sideways glance at Shikon, then back at the pieces of the scorpion. "I'm really tired now," she spoke sleepily. "Can we stop for just a while?"

Shikon shook his head. "A storm s coming. If we don't find a safe place, we'll be eaither buried alive, or have the fur ripped off out backs." He warned. He looked at the scorpion shell. It had already begun to sink into the sand thanks to it's weight. "Let's move" He said as he padded onward.

"All right," said Satika. "Where is there to go, other than behind a sand dune?" she was determined to be a help instead of a hindrance from now on. She'd wasted so much time already.

"There's a water source somwhere nearby. There might be a cave on the way there, but at least we'll be going towards water" He barkned in responce. He started off, much slower then usueal. He had 'baggage' this time....

Satika nodded in reply, and set off with Shikon. Looking over her shoulder, she spotted a huge tornado blowing towards them. She nudged Shikon and pointed a paw at it.

Shikon had no choice. His long legs could easily outrun a sand twister, but that was his species's best trait. No way Satika could keep up! He tried his best to usher her along as fast as he could go without her falling behind. "MOVE" He growled.

Satika looked fearfully up at Shikon. She quickened her pace substantially, then broke out in a run. "Are we close?"

Shikon said nothing. He couldn't hear Satika over the roar of the desert winds. He made a tight turn, and suddenly the wind lessened. He coughed up a bit of sand from inside a small rock formation. It would make an acceptable cave. He shook out his fur, littering the rock ground with even more sand.

Satika soon followed Shikon, out of breath and panting. She listened as the wind blew over the cave, making an eerie howling noise. "Good night," she mumbled, and tried to fall asleep, but the wind was just too loud.
