Shikon said nothing. His paws dug at the sand, outside. his diggin was building up a sand wall near the entrance of the cave. He continued this digging, even as the winds grew worse. Finally, he stepped back in, his body stinging from the sand. He shook out his fur once again and pressed the sand against the cave opening. The opening was now much smaller, though the howl of the wind was still just as loud.

Satika, bored, could only see one thing to do: talk to Shikon. She tried to get some sleep for a few more minutes, but nothing worked. Finally, she blurted out, "Is it true that wolves can turn into humans?"

"no" He answered simply. He laid his head on his paws, and began to close his eyes. He was right of course. Shapeshifting was just improbable. (I believe the human thing is like in Wolf's Rain. Where they don't actually change shape, but...yeah...so...complicated. I'll have to ask Luna)

ooc: 0_o OK XD bic: Satika was disappointed. She sighed and rested her head on her paws, as well. She finally fell asleep, not listening as the winds died down. She woke up to a strange rattling noise... opening one eye she saw a rattlesnake shaking its rattle right in front of her nose. "Shikon! There's someone... who was using this cave before us," she said, not really afraid but careful not to move. The snake was so... interesting. And harmless-looking.

Shikon's eyes were glazed when he first opened them. His ears twitched at the noise, then his eyes jutted open and he was immediately on his feet. He snarled at the snake, getting it's attention. "Back away from it" He barked to Satika, while his fur bristled, and his fangs were bared at the rattler.

"Wha...?" Satika stared at Shikon. What was so dangerous about this overgrown worm, anyway? It had a couple of big teeth... "Oh... It's poisonous?" asked Satika, obeying Shikon.

"Deadly" He growled as he began to circle around the rattlesnake. The rattle in it's tail was going crazy as it lowered it's head. Better striking position. "Leave. Now" He ordered Satika. "I'll be right behind you" He added as he continued to stare down the enemy.

"Leave?" I can't - I can't just leave!" Satika stared at Shikon. Did she expect him to turn tail and run at any sign of danger? Well, she was braver than that. Better than that. "I won't leave," she said stubbornly.

Shikon growled angrily. This foolish wolf. "Dont prove your bravery. Run when there's a battle not worth fighting." He growled as he slowly backed away from the poisonous reptile.

"I'm just as capable! Or... half as capable..." Satika was beginning to doubt herself. "Why don't you just run now?" she begged. "Please. You - you said you would follow me out. Well, why don't we both just go?"

Shikon continued to back up. "Fine you stubborn girl" He barked, before grabbing her by the scruff and racing out. The snake lunged it's attack, and if Shikon hadn't grabbed Satika, it would've hit her right on. He dropped her outside and continued to run. "Hurry up" He growled as he bound through the desert. The winds weren't as bad now that the storm had passed.

Satika knew Shikon was unhappy with her, but she didn't care. He was always unhappy with her. She smiled secretly and raced after him. It felt good to run again, and she was rested up. Satika realized that Shikon needed to trace the scent again. "Where did you last smell the Lunar Flower?" she asked while running alongside him.

Last night during the storm" He asnwered. Simple and brief, the traits of Shikon's speech. Tough to get info from him, but at least he was too the point.

"Last night" Shikon replied, a tiny grin lighting his face. It vanished in minutes as he continued to wander through the scorching sands. His paws were getting sweaty. The worst part was, tonight they would freeze. Why did deserets have to be so complicated?
