The desert is a death trap for almost any crosser....but there are some creatures that thrive in this deadly world. This is a place that must be passed in the hunt for paradise. Wolves must beat quicksand, the deadly heat, unknown enemies, and their own pack mates..... Two wolves have just entered the deseret's trap.....

ooc: so, Satika and Shikon came over here 'cause they were traveling, right? (you picked a good board! ) bic: Satika blinked the sand out of her eyes and snorted when some went up her nose. Shaking her fur out to dislodge sand, she looked over at Shikon. She hoped he wasn't, but she thought he was going slower than he could have gone, because they were side by side. Her mouth was too dry for speech, so she just kept her mouth shut and plodded on. Thirsty though she was, the mirages along the way didn't fool her. "That must be a hard terrain to track on," she thought. "Sand? The tiny pieces just get blown around and mixed up." For the first time, she really admired Shikon. She was beginning to look up to him, she realized. "But I hardly know him!"

ooc: Why thank you! Also, any other members who actually come on, you can join in too! bic: Shikon didn't seemed bothered by the desert one bit. He continued to go onward. His new companion Satika was dragging him down, but he found himself growing more attached to the whelp. As the sun beat down, he decided maybe it was time for a break. They had afterall been walking for 2 and a half days straight....

ooc: whelp lol! bic: Satika wasn't nearly as tired as she was on the first day. Perhaps it was because she had been staying up to make sure she didn't miss a new scent or an actual wolf when she was following the humans. After that fitful sleep by the rock she felt restored. But it wouldn't hurt to have a rest now... She wondered how anything could survive in this barren desert. Then she remembered that she hadn't actually seen any life here yet. "How can there be a place with NO WATER?!?!" Satika wanted to shout out. "How could a flower ever have been here?" but then that would probably earn her a sigh and something like, "It's a desert..." from Shikon. She sighed herself and kept her trap shut.

Shikon looked at the other wolf. Why did I bring her along? What made me say yes? he asked himself. He wasn't like this...letting any old pup join his team, and yet here he was with a whelp named Satika..... He shook out his pelt, sending sand flying off, then he started to siff around. If anyone could find water in this 'waterless' place, surely it was him.

Satika opened her dry mouth and croaked, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but how big is this desert, exactly?" she took a second to stretch her legs, tight from the long walk, and set off again slightly faster. Suddenly she felt full of energy, and broke out in a run, laughing for some reason. "What am I doing?" she giggled. "Am I this giddy because of the heat?" But it didn't matter, at least until her energy ran out.

"HEY!" Shikon yelled as he bolted after, quickly tackling her to the ground. "Get ahold of yourself. If you over exert yourself in the desert, you'll die from heat exhaustion" He growled. He held her down until she calmed down.

Still laughing hysterically, Satika realized that her brain was probably messed up from the heat, but for some reason that made her laugh harder still. Then she remembered who was holding her down, and shut up at once. Shikon didn't look too happy. "Er... sorry... I don't know what came over me," she spoke timidly. "You must think I'm insane..." she gave a lazy grin and stood up, almost falling over as a feeling of exhaustion overtook her. She set off once again, but it was hard to walk straight.

Shikon let her up. "You are insane. No doubt" He barked. Then, his long maned wolf legs began to carry him through the desert. He needed to find water and fast. His legs began carrying him faster and faster, as he caught the scent of liquid.

Satika's last giggles died when she saw Shikon running away from her. She barely had any energy left, and her eyes were half closed, but she followed anyways. Soon, the distance separating them was too great for her too see him. Her body gave up before her brain did, and she collapsed on the ground. She wondered if Shikon would find her before she died, but her fear forced her to get up one more time. She let out a loud, echoing howl, which was soon lost in the wind. "Please Shikon... hear me," she whispered, laying down and fighting to stay awake.

Shikon's ears bent backwards, and his feet dug into the sand. The soft sand grabbed hold of his feet and allowed him to turn around. He stared out over the desert in direction of the howl. The wind was against him now, and the blowing sand made him squint. The wind was picking up...a storm was coming. He had to find the whelp, and fast.

Satika had her eyes shut tight as the wind, coming from behind her, blew her ears forward and filled her fur with sand. "It's no use, I have to find shelter!" but what was there to hide behind, save for the sand dunes, which would just scatter more sand onto her? She forced herself to stand and squinted in search of Shikon. The wind pushed her forward. She kept her head down and her eyes almost closed. Eventually she bumped right into him. "Shikon! There you are! Sorry I couldn't... couldn't help you," she said, knowing that he didn't want her help anyways. "So what are you doing?"

Shikon was fighting against the sand, his head down and his pace slow. The wind was powerful.
Meanwhile, Satika hadn't bumped into Shikon....something else stared down at the wolf. It was some sort of creature. It looked metal, and the eyes were hard, and solid red.

Satika was annoyed at Shikon for not answering her. She looked up, opening her eyes as far as the sand would allow. "Are you mad at me? Um, hel-" she stopped midword, gazing up at the thing. Mouth dropping open, she saw its blood red, glaring eyes. Finally she came to her senses, squealed, and ran the other way, farther from the wolf she was supposed to be finding. She looked back, and the thing was following her, paying no mind to the fact that she was losing energy fast.

This metalic like creature was moving at a rapid pace, and what looked like a stinger rose from beneath the sand behind it. It was some sort of metal...scorpion?
Shikon raced as fast as he could through the desert, but against such powerful wind, he could barely walk. He happened by a slanted rock and panted a bit as he sat under it. This was harder then he thought...looking after another.
