Anio quite doubted the first thing he said. As for the rest, she could wait. She tried even more than ever to find something living, and started again to sniff at the air. A strange smell came, but faint and far away. At least it was something. She turned to see if the big wolf had found the same thing. "Can you smell that?"

Kosei was already moveing off in the direction of the scent. He hadn't traveled with a pack in a log while, and he had no reason to start now.

Anio followed at first, but quickly sprinted ahead of Kosei. As she drew more near, the smell became more familiar. It was not food, and that made her a but downspirited, but she trudged on. Soon, she rounded a steep hill of snow and found it. Gasoline. It was everywhere. It was frozen into the snow, making it an unpleasant color, but the smell was still overwhelming, despite the dilution of the frozen water. In the middle of the large stain on the snow was a heavy vehicle, half frozen in place by the deep snow that reached up to the headlights. She looked at it momentarily before attempting with out a word to find out more about it. She took a careful step out on the snow, making sure not to get much of it on her. Gasoline probably wasn't the healthiest thing to get on you at this temperature. "Wonder why it's just sitting there without people." She murmured, looking back at the wolf.

Kosei looked at thw wreckage. A very low growl was inadubily sitting in his throat. "humans....destroy everything they touch" He said as he walked around the foul mess of metal and liquid.

"Probably an accident..." Anio said, too enthralled in examining the wreck to sound angry. She got to the vehicle and sniffed around inside. There were lots of things. Sunglasses, hats, wrappers, a sweater, but she could only smell the scent of the humans that had owned the thing slightly. They must have left a long time ago. "I hope they got to shelter alright." She said worriedly. "It looks like it's at least a day or so old."

Kosei rolled his eyes as he made his way around. "If they did pass, at leasst the planet would have that much less to worry about" He mumbled, yet clearly audible. He didn't mind humans THAT much, but he had a low toleration for their nature destroying machinery

Anio looked up from what she was doing. "Would you mind saving your rude comments for later?" She growled before again starting to look through the vehicle. Something caught her eye and made her stop. It was a little red ball. She nosed it tentatively, a flash of memory coming back to her.
It was a cold day, and a small puppy lay curled up beside the wall. Her tail wagged, even though she was bored, her gray eyes fixed on nothing but the air. "Anio." She heard a voice call. The man stood up from his work, rubbing his tired eyes as he would always do after working through the night. The puppy looked up questioningly as he came over to her, tail wagging faster. "Anio." he said again. "You're just sitting there. Don't you want to go outside and play like a good dog? You don't have to wait for me." She didn't understand. How could she play without him? That wasn't fun! His hand came down to rub her ears and she stood up. Was it time to play? "No, Anio. I can't play with you." He shook his head. "I have too much work to get done." She looked at the floor, ears drooping. He had been working for so long! It wasn't fair! He seemed to notice this, because he then stood up and began to search around in a box on his desk. "Don't feel bad! I have something that you can play with on your own."He took out a small round ball and held it up to her."See? You don't have to wait for me now." He let her sniff the ball before going to the door and throwing the ball out. She looked confused. Why did he throw it away? He looked at her confused expression with a laugh. "You're supposed to go get it." She looked where it had rolled. Really? Getting up, the puppy went to find the ball. When she went to pick it up, it made a strange noise. She jumped back in surprise and the ball rolled away with another odd noise. She crept up to it. Why did it do that? She placed a small paw on the ball. There was the noise. It was funny. It was squeaky. She liked it. She picked it up and it squeaked again, louder this time. She growled, biting down on it so hard that it slipped out of her moth and rolled away with a squeak. This was fun. She chased after it, batting at it and biting it until it made so much noise that the man came out. "Looks like someone has a new hobby." He said with a smile, and left her to play with her new toy.
Anio looked at the ball, blinking away the memory. She picked it up, but it didn't squeak like it was supposed to. That was okay. She still liked it. She jumped out of the wreck, bringing the ball with her. "Look what I found." She said, putting it down at the big wolf's feet. What would he think of the ball?

Kosei looked at the ball. The little red ball.....held nothing for him. He was a wild creature, with no man made toys to keep him company. Back when he was a pup, nature always found a way to entertain him. He could play for hours with nature, letting her take him away on multiple adventures. Then when night would come, he would sing her a song, to let her know how much he cared for her. He turned away from the ball. "it's a ball made for a human.....what about it?" he grumbled, not really curious.

It figures he wouldn't like it. He didn't even know what it could do, or how much fun it could be. She looked at the ball once more before kicking it over into the wreckage. "Never mind." She said, and stated walking again without a word more. It was strange really, how differently they saw things. She wondered how he would cope when they reached their first city.

Kosei continued to walk onwards, even as the sun sank in the sky. Even as the layer or orange and purple covered above, and the first specks of starlight began to appear, Kosei continued to march onwards. Finally, when all was dark, and the moonless sky left no light to see by, did he finally stop. He didn't know if that halfbreed was still with him, but he dug a whole big enough for two anyway and curled up.

Anio was tired. Really tired. She hadn't walked like that in forever. Then again, throughout the day she would never have asked to stop and rest. Whatever that wolf could do, she could do too. When he finally stopped to dig a hole for the night, she nearly barked with joy. Instead of doing that and degrading herself though, she crawled inside and sat down, her aching limbs finally getting the rest they needed. She was even too tired to worry about what the wolf would say to her sleeping right next to him. Instead, she plopped down against his big warm side and was asleep before her head hit the ground, dreaming of her old friend and their games with the ball.

Kosei didn't seem to care about the half wolf cuddling up beside him. Infact, their shared bosy heat raised their chance of survival. He soon fell into his half doze. Most of his body was resting, but his senses were alert. Even at the slightest unnatural noise, or sudden shine of light, he'd be up and ready to fight. ........ Time passed quickly, and soon yellow and orange once again crept into the sky. once the sky started to filter out it's yellow into blue, Kosei raised his head. He shookhis head free of the fine layer of snow that had drifted over his body and looked around. It was beautiful, this untouched snowfall.

Anio was roused from sleep by the big wolf's motion, and rolled over before drifting back to a dreamlike state. That was when the sun hit her eyes and she sleepily blinked them open to look up at the roof of the snow cave. Her first thought was that she hadn't eaten in forever. Her second thought was her of muscles, still sore from the other day's trek. She really wasn't cut out for this wild wolf's life. That was Kosei's expertise, not hers. She shakily stood, already thinking of ways to coax the wolf close enough to civilization for her to find something edible.

Kosei finally stood up, and stretched his massive body. He looked around at the blinding snow. carefully his eyes went across the lands....carefully....there. Something had moved ever so slightly in the white. Possibly breakfast. "Have you ever hunted before pet?" he asked Anio.

"Yes." She said, ignoring his pet comment. Despite her liking of cities and civilization, she could hunt well enough to survive. She was good at keeping low and being quiet, and she was also pretty sure she was at least faster than the big wolf. She could handle catching a little breakfast. "Have you ever hunted in a pack before, wolf?"
