"yes. Now here is what you are to do" He said as he hunched down low to her. "You must walk to the opposite side of that snow hare unnoticed, and chase it to me. I will deliver the death blow" He said. In a basic wolf pack, this was the easiest way to catch large and fast prey. Kosei was built for fighting, and obviously Anio would be best for chaseing the hare.

Anio nodded, seeing the sense in his strategy, and began to creep along the thick layer of snow. Her fur was far from camouflaging, seeing as it was a brilliant black, but that didn't seem to be a problem. The terrain was hilly enough and provided much cover for her to sneak up to the hare unnoticed. As she got closer, she could smell the warm scent of her soon to be breakfast. Finally, a meal after a long trip. That was always a good thing.

Kosei laid nestled deep in the snow. His light grey fur melted into the scenery, and he appeared to be just a big rock. He waited silently for the prey to come his way. Then his massive jaws would lay the final crushing blow. All Anio had to do was chase...

She was right next to the hare now, hiding directly behind the big hill it was on. She waited patiently for it to move a little more in position. The more out in the open it went, the easier it would be to drive to Kosei. One more second and... she sprang. The hare bolted immediately for a scattering of rocks farther down the hill, but she veered to stop it, and did just in time. It swerved to avoid her sharp snapping teeth and she was able to make it run right towards where the big wolf was waiting.

Like a well oiled machine, Kosei's jaws gripped the hare with a sharp crunch. The poor creature let out a soft whine before it's body went limp and fresh blood dipped onto the snow. Kosei laid it down, and immediately took some bites. he left the majority for Anio.....seeing as the halfbreed was already stuggling. He walked away from the splotch of red, and sat on a rock until Anio finished. Strange....he was wondering why he himself wasn't waking away right now...

Anio plodded towards the food and ate it quickly, savoring the taste after a long time without it. She didn't realize Kosei had left the majority, she just was happy for the feeling of a content stomach. After she was done, she stretched out her muscles and strolled up to Kosei. She was ready for anything now. "Thanks for waiting." She said dismissively. She wasn't trying to be rude, she just never really had to thank anyone before. She had always been alone, and it had been nice for once to have someone to help her out. Not that she liked the wolf or anything. She was still only following him to find out what he knew and where he was going, but she wasn't loathing it nearly as much as she had when she started. She was probably just in a good mood because of the food.

Kosei stood up and shook the snowfall off of his pelt. He then stepped onto the ice that laid ahead without a glance backwards. "you're welcome" he said before he walked onward. Ice was a bit harder to traverse, but as long as it was sturdy, they'd be ok.

Anio inspected the ice at her feet carefully before each step. She could walk on ice -that was never a problem- but she also knew what happened when it was a bit too thin to bear your weight. You'd sink like a rock, no matter what you were. She had seen dog and man alike be sucked down into the deep dark water under a thin layer of ice, and quite frankly she had never had strong feelings about trying it. She was a tundra dog born and raised, not a swimmer.
"So Kosei, have you ever fallen in the water?" Anio asked with a sincere interest. She had never spoken much, but it might be worth listening to what the wild wolf had to say on the subject. You could never have enough survival information, and as much as she hated to admit it, the barbaric wolves were the foremost experts on that, especially Kosei's ancient breed. How else had they survived through the harsh years of fear and hatred? She herself was scorned just for carrying the curse of a half-wolf lineage. Her dog side never gave her such trouble as her wolf side did. People saw her as her true self, and she swore they could sense the savage beast within. That was why she rarely appeared to humans as her true self. It was easier to hide what she was as a young woman than a fierce-eyed dog with the semblance of a small wolf.

"yes" Kosei said in his rough voice. "I had been shot by a human straight over a cliff" he said with no feeling on the subject. His shoulder still bore the scar from the bullet. Kosei's large size meant heavier weight, nut even with his larger paws distributeing his mass, he could feel the tender ice getting loose. He lowered his body and let his tender underbelly sit gently on the ice. The cracking stopped.

Anio looked uneasily at the ice beneath her feet. Her weight wasn't the problem, but Kosei might end up sinking them both because of his. She unconsciously spread her weight a little more and suppressed a shiver. She didn't like water much.
"What did you do to him?" She asked, thinking the big wolf must have been doing something to intimidate the human in the first place. She had almost never been shot at, no matter what people thought she was.

"i lived" he said as he began to belly slide across the ice. Ooh cryptic. The large wolf WAS intimidateing, even though his nature itself was more docile. His massive paws were so gentle on the ice, and under his rough appearence, he didn't seem that bad. His ears perked a bit, but he continued to crawl across the ice.

Anio didn't say anything. Well... he DID look like a big, mean wolf... When she saw him first, the only thing that kept her in her seat was the fact that he was supposed to be extinct. That has to raise some questions for the more curious at heart, so she swallowed her fears and ended up here. Even though she wasn't as afraid of him now, she really didn't trust him either. If it ever came down to it, and he started to act like the wolf that he was, she would stand no chance against him.
But that raised an interesting question. Why wasn't he acting like a wolf? Was it because she was part wolf and he felt some kind of connection? She hadn't the slightest clue why he had tolerated her this long, but whatever it was she hoped it would hold out until she found out a little on paradise from the big wolf. Anio walked carefully and silently over the rest of the ice, lost in her thoughts.

Kosei froze. His ears perked again, this time folding back. Just as he turned to look at Anio to warn her, the ice beneath him gave out. The heavy wolf fell into the cold water, and the shattered ice became still once more. Lucky for Anio, the whole had only JUST stopped where her front paws were.

Anio's eyes widened, and for a split second she just stared at the wolf in the icy chasm of water. She had been miles away, and it took her a moment to realize what she was seeing.
"Kosei..." She muttered, shocked, but then her cold, steely eyes narrowed and her brain snapped into focus. "Keep your head above the water and keep moving. You need to make your core temperature rise."
Just as Kosei's powerful jaws had worked as a well-oiled machine to catch their unlucky breakfast, Anio's mind was whirring with every thought of Kosei's well being. She quickly checked the surrounding ice for faults and strengths and then began to calculate how much weight the ice around the break could hold. She worked fast, knowing every second would count against him, and soon found a suitable place to attempt a rescue. It hardly even occurred to her that she was helping a wolf.
"Can you get out?" She asked. "Try doing it here." She set her paw down on a thick layer of ice next to the break. It was shaking, and not from the cold. She was staring uneasily at the sloshing ice cold water around the big wolf.

Kosei had begun to head over to the ice, but stopped. He bit down into a chunk of ice floating in the water, and let his body go limp. Without movement, the water slowly calmed....but something was moveing below. A dark shadow passed under Anio's paws, and the sheer strength of it's movements rattled the ice a bit. Kosei had dealt with this creature once before, but never in water. He recognized the sound and shape....
